Braveheart~ers..well, what a great day!!
Braveheart has now left the UW Vets and is now with 2 lovely ladies..called Lisa and Joanne..two very special ladies that now have the honour of being the foster family of our dear boy, whilst he continues on the road to total recovery.

APRIL 15TH 2011 UPDATE..

UW VC posted this a little while ago:
Update from Dr. Foy: Braveheart is doing well, he's eating well and looking for extra food. He's been off all IV medication for almost 2 days now and he had his IV catheter pulled this morning. He has had a couple of normal bowel movements and his weight is now actually increased by about 1 pound from when he came in to the VMTH :)
YAY..great to hear.

** note..over the weekend we might not hear any further news..so please bear that in mind...we will post any news on our boy as it comes to hand straight away...J

I had a disagreeable type on his page not long ago, demanding a new picture from today...this person could not understand..that the Vets try hard to post a daily new pic, but its not always going to happen...i guess you cantplease everyone..no matter how hard you try..:)

The page has 10, 100 supporters for our boy now, and the page is still posting out feeds..great news..:)) J

Hi..ive just started a TWITTER account to try and get some followers in the Twittering community to hear his tale...

Whats TWITTER all about..does it really reach as many people as what ive heard?
TWEETS are popular with many celebs, who keep in touch with their fans this way..i guess it is kind of quick and easy to do.

I linked the TWITTER to our Braveheart's battle page..so they are both in sync, i hope it works!
Bravehearters has 50 followers at last look..thats great.
This will be a work in progess.
I just want this dear dogs tale sent viral..he deserves lots of attention and help, as do the Houges with ONE STARFISH REHOMING...:)
By the way..Marti has given her OK for the tweets..so all is good.

Losing your posting and publishing rights as admin on pages..

Ive had 2 issues this past year with pages..and its not fair!!
When the page hit 10,000 fans the posting rights for me as admin were taken away.
Why..i dont know, and all requests to get my publishing/ posting rights back have gone unanswered.
My pages continue to grow, and i cant post out into the main feeds as admin, which means im not able to reach over 21,000 fans on one page, and a further 10,500 on the other.
Some of my friends have also had issues with losing their own publishing / posting rights on their pages too.
I made the backup group for this very reason, so i can continue to reach people on facebook about Braveheart!
At this moment i can still post on the page..as it stands there are not quite 10,000 fans there as yet.
So..we shall see.
Let me know if any of you have had this issue with pages too?

Braveheart is improving in intensive care.

At the veterinary hospital, Braveheart gained strength after receiving intravenous hydration and medications and consuming tiny helpings of baby food, chicken and tuna. Medical staffers started tracking the dog's blood chemistry, skin condition and overall health.

Animal lovers have rallied to raise support through online donations and PayPal gifts for the rescued canine, whose medical bills are expected to reach $5,000 or more. The dog's hospital stay may last weeks, or even months, according to Daniel Foy, DVM, of UW Veterinary Care.

MARTI HOUGE writes...
Everyone's been so supportive, and I knew [Braveheart is] getting all the love he needs," Marti Houge commented. "It's been slow going, and that's what's frustrating. But there's light at the end of the tunnel... There's nothing more rewarding than to feel like you've given an animal a second chance."

Could you do me a favor and post on Braveheart's FB page that his bill is ongoing, and that--while many people have generously donated--he is still in the ICU at this point and--even after he comes home--he will need a LOT of follow-up care.
So, donations are still much appreciated.
Also, if donations DO exceed his total bill (whatever that might be), we would like to use any "extra" money for the next special medical needs dog that OSF rescues.
(Paying it forward, so to speak.....as the Patrick Miracle people have done for Braveheart)
As you know, we have a soft spot in our heart for the dogs who needs extra medical care--because many rescue groups are afraid of taking in a dog with medical problems. But, we believe in these dogs--and in the many generous people out there who are willing to help us pay the vet bills when we take in a special dog like Braveheart. Thanks! Marti

Ive got a challenge for all the people who attend the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN!!
A fund raising idea for them to help BRAVEHEART!!
The University of Wisconsin-Madison has a total enrollment of 42,041, including 28,999 undergraduate students.
CAN YOU GUYS ALL DONATE $1 TO ONE STARFISH REHOMING CONNECTIONS?
Any people on here that can help this challenge begin?

PLEASE ALL YOU WONDERFUL STUDENTS ..help raise some much needed funds for your Universities famous dog..BRAVEHEART!!

A Roadblock, or a Braveheart Beggin’ Brigade, a fundraiser where several members stand at a busy foot traffic spot on campus with your donation jars and collect money from passing students.
**Some non-profit groups have raised $800 to well over $1,000 in a few short hours using this simple technique.
This is not a novel fundraiser specific to animal rescue groups, since many fire departments hold a “Fill the Boot” campaign each year to benefit Muscular Dystrophy, encouraging motorists to fill up one of their firemen boots with cash donations.

Ive put the call out to all the UW students..can they raise $$$ with a Uni challenge for you...lets hope so.

Im so happy to see this story, my name being mentioned ..it gives me a big smile of course.
But the most rewarding thing about it is...that Bravehearts plight has reached and touched so many wonderful people everywhere ..in just a short span of time..and through that we are all helping to make a difference for one very special dog.

They are a small but very wonderful Animal rescue outfit in Columbus Wisconsin.

PLEASE help raise some much needed funds for BRAVEHEART the famous dog..who is currently an in-patient in the University of Wisconsin -Madison Vet clinic. Braveheart is struggling to survive from horrific animal cruelty!!

Bravehearts Vet bill is HIGH..he has been in the UW Vets ..ICU unit for over a week now, and through his amazing fan base of supporters on facebook , quite a fair sum of money has already been raised.

However, due to ongoing Vet care and many months of rehab and care that will be needed , we need to keep fund raising efforts ongoing.
